Flood Effects # 3

Rebuilding Your Home

Your family home has been devastated by floods. The only things remaining are the timber walls of your home.

Gyprock is water-logged.
Carpet has been ruined.
Tiles cracked.
Furniture destroyed.
Appliances damaged.

EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!

You love your home, love the area, you want to stay.

Your Task:

Rebuild Your Home!

Flood Effects # 2

Rebuilding Queensland

They have brought heartache and loss, but the devastating Queensland floods have also created the opportunity to rebuild a much greener, energy efficient Queensland.
(Babs McHugh)

"For some of them, it may be that instead of rebuilding their house as it was before, they might need to build their home on a higher level and put it on stilts to protect them in future."
(Anna Bligh - Premier of Queensland)

"Sometime next week [they could be] out doing the heartbreaking business of cleaning and rescuing anything they can, but they may not be able to go back into their own homes for literally months."
(Anna Bligh - Premier of Queensland)

"Possessions lost, their homes caked in putrid mud.
(Paul Donoughue)

Flood Effects # 1

"A huge sadness is upon Australia. After around 3 weeks of heavy rain Queensland started to flood. The water built up and up and in the end had nowhere to go but through people’s lands, homes and lives.
It’s been a devastating few weeks and this is a horrendous natural disaster. We’ve lost some good people, people who were ripped from us quickly and without mercy. Our country is in shock."
(Straalen McCallum - 12 years old)

The tragedy of the Queensland floods is the everyday story of refugees. You lose all you have: home & family due to a situation beyond your control.

BUT

"We will recover, we will repair, we will

rebuild."
